Smallness

I miss the smallness that my children once possessed . . .
I miss . . .
The days of princesses and blocks . . .
Now they are being pushed aside for Harry Potter books/movies and Star Wars products.
My house was once constantly filled with the sounds of Dora the Explorer and Strawberry Shortcake . . .
Now, it is the Harry Potter theme: Hermoine, Malfoy, and Harry -- they are household names.

My children are just growing too fast! I miss the little puffy chipmunk-cheeks . . .

And the scrumptious-chubby baby legs.
I miss the silly talking, and mispronounced words. I miss the soft gentle loves and hugs . . .
Now they can sometimes be quick and forceful!
Oh, how I love the smallness of the young years.

Don't get me wrong, I stand amazed at how lovely my children are becoming, and what nice young people they are . . . but I will always remember the sweet days of their first years of life.

(I am also so glad the last four years are documented on my blog!)

  1. I agree totally with you Mari! I miss those days too.

My house was once filled to the brim with energy, and snuggles and happy voices! It is somewhat quieter these days. I cherish every moment of those days and I cherish these days with Luke and his wonderful teenage quirks!!

  2. Mari,
You are such a wonderful mother. I just loved your comments about the 'smallness' of our little ones. I am fortunate to be enjoying that right now. Like watching little McKinley run around in her birthday suit right before bath time. She runs so fast when she's free of clothes...who wouldn't? And, Stephen's words are precious. Every night after I tuck him in bed, I say: "Remember you're a child of God and Jesus loves you." And he says those same precious words of truth right back to me. He started doing that a few months ago and I love to hear his voice testifying of the truth.

Your FHE lesson and teaching moment was powerful. I could feel Daniel's heartache as you described the situation over the chapstick. What a super strong, sweet Spirit he must have to be so sensitive. He is a wonderful boy. I hope Stephen follows in his footsteps. We will all make it. Together Forever for sure! Give Daniel a hug for me.

Way to go at the Gym Mari. Mom tells me you've done great! Keep it up. Nothing is impossible. Mom and Dad are doing super too. They go to the Gym every day...for about 3-4 weeks now. It makes me happy to hear about their success in their workouts. Stephen, McKinley and I joined them at the club pool and we had a wet willy of a time.

    Sure love you,
    Kary
