It snowed. They cancelled school and everything! The funny thing was - it snowed 2 inches! I thought it was SO funny. I will have to try and find pictures from our "snow days" in Alaska. There had to be 2 feet of snow to close school there! I will search for the picture. I saw that Spokane has been buried in snow this winter too. Weird weather! I was told that it hardly snows here. It has snowed a bunch of times this year! I can't wait until Spring!
Sammi and Daniel were throwing snow at the window and William was pretty entertained by it
Then his hand was getting cold . . . he was all done

no way! a snow day? crazy! We just had 10 inches in one dumping last week overnight and school was ready and open on time. I'll never forget the 3 feet of snow we got in one day a few years ago in March. Ray was getting ready for a High Council mtg and then he looked out the window and thought....hmmm...I bet we don't have a mtg. So, he called Pres. Wadsworth to check and Pres. said "yes, we have a mtg." then, ray gently asked..."have you looked outside this morning?" He hadn't. Then, he did and said something like: "Brother Hafen, there will be no meeting this morning." Can't you just hear Pres. Wadsworth? What a wonderful man. We had so much fun in the snow...even though it was Sunday, we had to do some digging out. So, Mom, Dad, Ray and I got to work w/ the shovels and made a lot of fun pathways to play in. School was cancelled the next day to give the plows time to get the parking lots and streets clear.
ReplyDeleteI loved all the pictures of the kids.
How fun for them to have a snow day. And, for you to get a break from the morning rush and cold.
As far as your YW go.....I would just encourage you to help them to know who they really are and who they've always been. Individual worth and divine nature seemed to be one of our greatest focuses w/ the girls when I served w/ Cheryl....she is DIVINE, you know? Anyway, they need to KNOW it. It will help them put up their armor and be protected. I will think back to some activities we did regarding ind. worth and divine nature. Focus on the values. We did have a "Born to be a Queen" night and the girls loved it. I highlighted each girl, I had crowns made for them and sashes w/ their names on it. I ready them the story "Daughter of a King" and testified to them that it is true. We had a song (of course) I can't recall it right now...and queen like dessert. It was in the home so I felt the setting was more cozy and kept the girls close. I do support activities at the church, but it makes it easy for the YW to escape and walk the halls. When they come to a home, there is no exiting early. : ) And, it's so fun for them to sit on the couches and floor together and be close and build their sisterhood of strength. Go get them Mari. There is no time to waste in saving His souls.
hugs,
Kary
We had a snow day here as well last week. Actually we had a few snow days! Church was cancelled on Sunday and then Monday it was an inservice day for Richland and the other districts were closed for the snow and then Tuesday was a snow day!
ReplyDeleteIt was so strange! I didn't even realize it because it didn't seem bad to me. The internet said that there would be a 2 hour delay so I took Luke to school 2 hours later than usual and there were 2 cars in the parking lot. As we were wondering what to do, a guy pulled up that turned out to be a teacher and he told us school was cancelled. I was so confused! The roads weren't really bad and it wasn't too cold.
Today I was looking out the window and there is no snow to be seen. I thought to myself how odd that was because just 1 week ago it was snowing like crazy and then we basically had 2 more days off because of snow and now there is none!!
Crazy!!
I have to ditto Kary's YW advice. She is right on! I think that if we can help the girls realize their Divine Parentage and worth, it will be of more value to them than anything else. The rest will come along on those shirt tails! (Kary was right about me being DIVINE as well!!)
Lots of love!!
Cheryl
