Green - My Favorite Color
Brrrrrr . . . I am COLD! I just got in from walking Sammi to school. I have to warm up a bit before I do Tae-bo!
Honestly, somedays I have to drag myself out the door! At this point I have our mornings down to a routine of breakfast, getting myself ready, getting all the kids dressed and hair/teeth brushed, feeding William, making Sammi's lunch and writing her special note, bundling everyone up, prayers, and loading everyone in the stroller. Then we stand there in the garage, and I brace myself before we have to open the garage and face the cold! Not rain, not snow, not ice, not even lightning keeps me from walking Sammi to school. Yes, I do have a car, and I could take it too. I made the choice to walk, to be a little earth friendly (to save money and gas) and to be strong - so I do it. Honestly, there are some mornings (especially cold mornings like today) when I look at the cars driving to school and I think I am crazy. It is really not too far to her school from our home, a little less than half a mile. When it is cold, it seems longer, as if I am walking backwards! Daniel and William ride and Sammi walks along side me. I often tell Sammi to think of Disneyland and warm Summer days, being hot and drinking lemonade in the sun. We try to convince ourselves that it is not cold, and it works, mostly. ;-) Anyhow, enough of that, I am grateful I have feet to walk and that I am healthy enough to do it! Soon I can ditch the parka!
I would love to see some green. Green is my favorite color, along with Pink. When I am in charge I think I will skip over January all together, maybe even February, and go straight to March and Spring. I love Spring, I am so anxious for it. I love and miss the smells of life. Winter is cold and frozen and you cannot smell anything because your nose is frozen. Spring is life, and flowers, and every good thing - I cannot wait!
Lots of love!
Mari

go green!
ReplyDeleteYes, I can't wait to smell freshness of the earth again too.
I am so proud of you for walking every morning. Your kids will always remember it (uphill both ways, of course.)
At our RS presidency mtg today we decided we needed to have a "beat the blahs" girls' night out. So, it's in the planning for Feb 1. We will all wear pj's and do karoke, play games, eat unhealthy food and hang loose. I asked all the sisters in our presidency today when was the last time they had "FUN?" It took them all a long pause before they could remember an event or time they had fun. One lady, said, "never." The winter blues have hit Alaska and I'm going to do all I can to bring sunshine back to our souls. It's girls' night out and we're going to rock the world.
Keep smiling!
Kary
We are on the SAME page!!! Love Spring - JAN FEB are definitely the bum months (a little better now that Toby has a b-day in there)! We can do it!
ReplyDeleteViva la green!!
ReplyDeleteYou have a good idea there, Mari! January and February are so hard to keep motivated. The first thing is taking down all of the Christmas decorations. It is the saddest part of the year for me. Suddenly, my colorful world is stark and colorless. It usually takes me a month or so to get used to it.
I love Kary's idea for the girls night out! Now, that should chase the blahs away!!
Love ya!!
