Lots of stuff. . .

Hi there,

I know I have not been very consistent lately, I have been trying, it has not been working! Anyhow, I love pictures but this is going to be a picture-less post since it won't let me download pics right now.

Today we spent the evening watching the apartment building next to ours go up in flames. At about 5pm today Sammi looked outside on the balcony and she told me she saw smoke. I went and looked and there was just a little smoke. Then very quickly a lot on the building across the street from ours. I told the kids to put on their shoes quickly and I rushed them out to see what was going on. For full details and pictures, and video go to www.krem.com. I watched as the building literally bursted into flames. The kids were freaked out, but interested in watching it. I was amazed at how fast fire travels. Then I started worrying a little because I knew some people from our ward lived in the complex. People were screaming and crying as they came home from work to find their homes destroyed - luckily no one was hurt (except pets). It was really something to see. I am really glad we will be moving out of the apartment we are in and into a home. I am always a bit concerned about what people below and around us are doing. Anyhow, as I watched the scene I noticed someone from our Bishopric talking to some folks who looked distraught. Another lady from the ward went over and then I did too. A brand new family in our ward just starting Law school lived in one of the burning apartments. We quickly surrounded them, they had a young boy and she was pregnant! All who were there offered help, clothes, toys, whatever they needed and they were quickly off with a place to stay and people to help them, they were also very calm. In contrast I watched as others came to see their homes and they freaked out sobbing and yelling and losing it. They were alone and had only the red cross people for comfort and help. I was so amazed to see how no matter where you are, you have a family in the church. A support group who will take care of you if you need help - even if they do not know you. I love the gospel, and the people of the church, good people. What an amazing thing to see. I have never seen anything like it.

Besides that things are generally good. Just pressing onward. I spent the 4th of July at a friends party with just me and the kids (Charles was studying). It was good fun with a rented blow up water slide and everything. I have great pictures - I will post them someday! I also have pictures of the fire. Anyway, we spent the day yesterday with a friend too. Our air conditioner was broken and it has been over 100 so she was so kind to have us come and play in her cool home. It was great. Lots of fun on these hot, hot days. It has been record breaking heat here and will be for the week! Yikes!

The kids both went to the doctor today and the doctor said they are in perfect health. I was glad of that. I also got a prescription for Daniel for an Epi-Pin for his allergic reaction to cashews - just in case we come to find any new ones in the future. Fun stuff.

Anyhow, closer and closer we come to moving on. Also, so close to the bar exam! Yikes. John had the idea of a family fast for Charles and I think that would be great. If any of you family (and friends) would like to join in on Sunday the 22nd of July (the Sunday right before the Bar) That would be great. He really needs help on this, and he cannot do it alone. He has been studying SO hard for it and putting in so much effort to be ready, and yet, you just never can know enough. He needs Heavenly assistance. We are well aware of that! We wold be grateful for your prayers, I know it makes a difference. Plus there is something great about praying for other people. Here is a good chance for that. : ) Thanks!

Lots of love to all,

Mari
