Oh yeah . . . we had them dress-up and everything.
Sammi turned the big 10 yesterday!
For her birthday she requested going to the final Harry Potter movie.
We were all happy to oblige. :-)
We had so much fun!
(For the movie, William went to play with friends --
because he is not quite at big-kid movie level, yet.)
Charles took-off work and we went to an 11:35 a.m. showing . . .
We all really enjoyed the movie. It was beautifully done.
The visual effects are amazing. I had a few favorite parts, but I particularly liked the part when the battle first begins at Hogwarts and also the duel between:
Mrs. Weasley and Bellatrix.
I almost stood up and clapped and Woo-Hooed for Ma Weasley . . .
but I chickened out. :-)
It was SO awesome, though.
GO MAMA! YEAH!
I LOVE the contrast of loving house-mom against power-seeking, selfish-witch.
Never underestimate the power of MOM!
I was a little sad for the movie to be over.
I cried, unexpectedly, a few times! But, now that the series is complete we can have true Harry Potter marathons. :-)
So it is never truly over!
Sammi also got a special Harry Potter book with extra movie details and pictures. It is pretty neat -- it even has a real marauders map! She loves it!
She is a true fan of the books and the movies and she loves to know all of the details!
She has sucked us all into her love for Harry Potter.
We talk about it, a lot. We have lots of question and answer sessions.
(SHE answers OUR questions!)
In our home, intense wand-duels are a regular occurrence. :-)
"Expelliarmus!"
I came across this funny video, which you may have already seen . . .
I think Sammi might be "that kind" of Harry Potter nut. :-)
It will forever be embedded in her youthful memories.
We Love you Harry!!
We finally let our kids watch Harry Potter one and two in their entirety, about a week ago. There were always a few parts we would skip over until now. But I don't think they'll be seeing #7 for a long time! Good call not taking William to the movie. When Jeromy and I saw it, some people a few rows in front of us had brought a very small child--maybe 2 1/2 or 3 at the most. Not only do I feel the movie is completely inappropriate for that age, but you probably shouldn't take your kids to a big kid/grownup movie if they don't know how to WHISPER!!
ReplyDeleteWe liked it, but I was a little disappointed with Hollywood's interpretation near the end. Especially Neville's Big Moment. I liked it MUCH better in the book.
Becky, I know what you mean . . . there are parts in a few of the movies where the kids ALWAYS have to cover their eyes. In this last movie it was the snake/Snape part and the dying little-Voldemort creature part. There are some images that are just TOO scary/icky!
ReplyDeleteWe loved the movie, but it did seem rushed. I remember wondering at the beginning how they would get it all in! Some scenes were a little too rushed-through and Neville's big moment was one of them. The whole movie went by too quickly!
I did enjoy it MUCH better than 7 part 1! Perhaps they could have trimmed-up some of the dragging parts in the last movie and drawn-out more of the good stuff!
James and Julia will have some movies to look forward to in the future. ;-)
What a fantastic birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteI think Harry Potter is such a fun thing for kids to be in to. I love the story and well, everything fun and magical about it. I want to throw a Harry Potter themed Halloween party some time.
I love the books, but heard not so loving things about this last movie, so I'm waiting for it to come out on DVD, and then I'll buy the complete set- I can't wait!!
Grandma loved the movie!! Wait for me for the "Potter Marathon". What a great B-day, Sammi. See you in less than a year!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove Mom, (alias: Grandma)
