Say What???

I just love family history. I was sorting through some old pictures and I came across this random gem . . .
(The baby in the picture is my older cousin Shawn Lindquist)

This picture causes me to ask many questions:

1. What the heck?
2. Aren't raccoons nocturnal?
3. What exactly IS the raccoon doing??
4. Is Shawn smiling, or screaming?
5. WHO was the one that thought, "Quick, grab the camera!" instead of "Quick, grab the baby!"??
6. Maybe, raccoons are just misunderstood, and they just want to be friends. ;-)
7. Will nobody help Shawn?
8. What happened next . . . ???
9. How does Shawn feel about raccoons, today?
10. Perhaps parenting was just a little different back then, more laid back??

CRAZY!!!!! NUTS!!! WEIRD!!!!!

It was too priceless. I just had to share! :-) I wonder what I would do if a wild animal was "hugging" my baby . . . ????

  1. From Mom:

Was the picture in Grandma's stuff? It looks like it was taken at her house. Do you think the animal is real or one of her stuffed animals? I don't remember ever seeing that picture. Pretty funny whatever.

  2. I found the picture tucked in with a few pictures I had never seen before in your family history books. It had Shawn's name on the back. Unless she had the animal taken to a taxidermy, I think it may be real??? (Just judging by the apparent weight of the animal and Shawn's position) Maybe someone had a pet raccoon??? (Weird) I don't know . . . but it sure struck me as funny!

  4. I actually saw a raccoon outside today, and it freaked me out! They are creepy-looking animals! I certainly did not encourage William to go touch it! I stayed as far away from it as I could! It was staring me down -- I was just waiting for it to pounce!

  5. Ha Ha Ha Ha....I LOVE it! Things were a LOT different then...no carseats, kids leaving to play all day in the street, .85 cent gasoline, raccoon hugs. It was a good time to grow up. :) Thanks for sharing!
